Sometimes after the long, relaxing holiday season it is hard to find the energy to get back to the routines of ‘real life’. Instead of reaching for that cup of coffee or energy drink, try some of these ‘go to super foods’ for that extra boost of energy!
Bee Pollen: Pollen is the male seed of plants, and bee pollen is the food for young bees. It is considered to be one of the most nutrient dense foods and is extremely rich in B vitamins which are vital for energy production in humans. It can help in recovering from illness, reduce cravings and prevent the cold and flu. Sprinkle it on top of your morning oats or add to smoothies!
Maca: This adaptogenic root comes form Peru and is found here as a dried powder that is easy to add to smoothies, elixirs and other recipes. It helps to balance hormones (very beneficial for women to help relieve symptoms of PMS and Menopause). It is an adaptogen which means it helps to reduce stress, enhance strength and stamina. Great for energy and endurance!
Raw Cocao Powder: Pure cocoa is rich in magnesium, antioxidants, iron, vit-C and more! It’s helps with the production of serotonin which helps to reduce anxiety and is a powerful mood-enhancer! Yay for Chocolate!
*Tip: Delicious coffee replacement:
1 tsp Raw Cocoa Powder
1/2 to 1 tsp of Maca Powder
pinch of cayenne (too taste)
Add hot water, stir and enjoy! May add honey for some sweetness or your choice of a milk alternative.
